About

The Art of bringing hidden aspects of the self to the surface

I am a San Francisco based Artist with a primary focus on Charcoal work and Watercolor paintings. I have always found myself needing to create when experiencing difficult emotions, and what my vocabulary couldn’t manage to express in those moments, I could always rely on my hands to do so. Through working with Charcoal, it allowed me to bring a lot of my own shadows to the surface in a way that almost gave them an identity. It gave me the opportunity to face them and gently tell them goodbye, and I am passionate about sharing this experience with others both through my own work as well as helping them create physical expressions of their own shadows. The work I do with Watercolors serves a similar purpose, however where Charcoal represents the unknown and unseen aspects of ourselves, my Watercolor portraits capture the more conscious aspects and impressions of the emotional body. My hope is that through my work it gives you a deeper understanding into the way it feels for me to be alive, to struggle, to grieve, to wrestle with the beauty that hides in the darker places that a lot of us are afraid to explore within ourselves. Bringing things up to the surface, and letting them go, is what makes us all lighter after all.

The digital art that I do represents a completely different side of my artistry, using bold line work and monochromatic color palettes. It’s a lot more design focused for branding work, and allows me to share the brighter side of my personal artistic expression. The contrast between my physical works and my digital ones hopefully give you a well rounded idea of how dynamic we are as humans, and I hope you are able to find a piece of yourself in my art no matter how big or small that piece may be.
